GATEWAYBX-DALIPRO2

GATEWAYBX-DALIPRO2

The BX-DALIPRO2 Dali gateway for KNX is the interface between a KNX system and a DALI digital lighting system.

The gateway enables switching and dimming of DALI power supplies in a DALI system. The device features two completely separate Dali channels, allowing for the distinction between two different, "separate" DALI buses.

Depending on the configuration, up to 32 independent DALI groups (16 channels) are available for group addressing.

These groups can be supplemented with 64 channels of individually addressable DALI devices for each DALI channel for separate control. Centralized control of all connected DALI components (broadcast) is possible.

This eliminates the need for DALI commissioning, allowing lighting systems with low functional requirements to be operational quickly and easily.

KNX Functions

  • DALI-2 certified
  • Control of up to 2 x 64 DALI devices in up to 2 x 32 groups
  • Integrated DALI power supply
  • Color temperature or light color (RGB, RGBW) adjustment for DALI Type 8 luminaires according to IEC 62386-209
  • Protected against short circuit, overload, and overvoltage
  • Operating hours counter for individual lamps
  • Automatic sweep of color wheel or brightness
  • HCL mode (Human Centric Lighting): automatic daylight color temperature curve
  • CT mode (Color Transition): automatic daily color gradient
  • Addressing options: individual, group, or broadcast commands
  • 16 lighting scenes per DALI channel
  • Status feedback of DALI devices via KNX (e.g., brightness level or fault detection on fixtures)
  • Manual control of DALI groups, individual devices, or broadcast mode — separately for each DALI system, also via front panel buttons
  • DCA for DALI configuration via ETS software (Blumotix KNX Gateway DALI-2 DCA) – free of charge
  • Firmware update application via ETS software (Blumotix App FWU) – free of charge
  • Suitable for DC operation with emergency lighting systems (many emergency lighting systems are designed to operate on direct current, often supplied by internal batteries or dedicated emergency power units, allowing them to continue functioning during mains
    power outages)

Differences Between the Available Functions

Color Transition Mode (CTM)

  • In RGB or RGBW lighting systems, the Color Transition Mode (CTM) allows for flexible and creative control of color changes, enabling atmospheric and visual effects.
  • Smooth and gradual modification of light color
  • Adjustable color transition speed
  • Particularly suitable for commercial and decorative lighting systems (restaurants, hotels, clubs, or stage lighting)
  • Four freely configurable CTM matrices can be activated and switched depending on the time of day and day of the week to create different color sequences
  • Each matrix allows individual setting of predefined color values, with or without brightness adjustment
  • Automatic control of color cycles and brightness modulation

Tunable White Function (DALI Device Type 8 – TW)

The DALI Color Gateway for KNX supports the control of DALI power units of the “Tunable White” type. With the Tunable White function, it is possible to flexibly adjust the color temperature of the light — from warm white to cool white.

  • The color temperature can be controlled via relative or absolute adjustment functions, as well as through scenes
  • Cool white light can be used, for example, in offices to enhance concentration
  • Warm white light is ideal for residential spaces to create a relaxing atmosphere

Human Centric Lighting (HCL) Function

The Human Centric Lighting (HCL) technology can be used to simulate the natural progression of daylight color temperature, implementing biologically effective lighting.

  • Independent control of color temperature for each group and individual fixture via separate communication objects for brightness control
  • Alternatively, color control can be managed per channel
  • Lighting scenes can be activated with a simple button press and dynamically adjusted throughout the day
  • Designed to enhance well-being and health through adaptive lighting
  • Up to four freely configurable HCL matrices are available, adjustable in terms of brightness and color temperature, which can be activated or switched according to time of day and day of the week
  • Suitable for a wide range of applications: offices, hotels, schools, hospitals, residential spaces, and more.
